KOATE COLOUR BASE

KOATE COLOUR BASE IS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY DECORATIVE, WOOD STAIN, BASED ON UNIQUE CELLULAR SATURATED ANCHORING TECHNOLOGY.

Bold colours are beautiful and very much on trend. Pack a punch with Koate’s pre-colour treatment: Colour Base. Customise your colour to your project. The Colour Base range is simple to use and allows for easy colour mixing.

Combining Koate Colour Base with Koate One Coat Wood Oil enables you to produce great colour depth, in a plethora of different shades. Simply combine Colour Base with One Coat Oil 2C and a whole world of possibilities will be open to you. The only limit is the scope of your imagination.

There is a palette of 20 distinct colours available for you to create the perfect finish with. For those who seek out subtly, you can soften the shades by diluting the mixture with Colour Base Dilutor.

Please note: Colour Base is a pre-treatment; it does not shield the wood from damage. For the colour to be completely safeguarded, One Coat Oil must be used to seal it.

HOW DO I PREPARE THE SURFACE?

• Before colouring, surfaces must be carefully prepared. Previous treatments from older surfaces must be removed completely.
• Protect areas that do not need to be treated.
• Sand according to the state of the surface. (Koate recommends the surface to be treated thoroughly and evenly with 120 - 150 grit abrasive).
• Clean and remove all dust from the surface with a dusting brush.

HOW DO I APPLY?

• Shake the product before use and regularly during application.
• Apply generously with spray gun, roller, brush, or floor polisher with a white pad.
• Rub dry using a cloth (not necessary with floor polisher) in the direction of the grain until the colour no longer changes. On rough surfaces (e.g., brushed or sandblasted oak) work the product into the grain with a brush or a cloth in circular movements.
• For a more transparent effect dilute with KOATE COLOUR BASE DILUTOR

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY FINISH AFTER?
After drying (24 hours if there is sufficient ventilation), break the raised wood fibres with a floor polisher with red Pad. Vacuum and finish with a colour from the Koate One Coat Wood Oil, One Coat Door Oil, One Coat Worktop Oil or Wood Varnish 2C range.
